The charity aimed to get 400,000 bags of donated items collectively from its stores across the UK.

The event took place last month and over 490,000 bags were collected nationally and the Wisbech store had an impressive 10% return.Representatives were handing out bags to shoppers at the Horsefair’s bus station and they were also handed out from their store based on the town’s market place.

Janet Kenworthy,Store Manager of the Wisbech British Heart Foundation store said:”I received some great feedback and a positive response from shoppers.The event was a real achievement in terms of the quality of items being brought in and the number of people wanting to help.”

Horsefair Shopping Centre Manager Kevin Smith said:”It’s great to hear that the British Heart Foundation’s initiative went well and I am pleased that the Centre was able to support it.”
