Horsefair Security The Best In The Country
In March, Roger won BSIA’s “Regional Security Personnel Award for Service to the Customer in the Midlands” and subsequently progressed to the national awards which took place at the Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane on Wednesday 16 July.
Roger was victorious at the awards and was presented with national award for “Service to the Customer” which he received from Baroness Smith of Basildon, Labour’s Shadow Home Affairs Minister for private security.
Talking about his award Roger said: “I can’t quite believe I won! Getting nominated for the regional award was such an achievement so winning this is pretty unbelievable! I love working at the Horsefair and helping out the local community so it’s great to have my work recognised at this level.”
Roger was nominated for the award by his managers for being the ‘lynch-pin’ of security operations at the shopping centre. Since starting at Horsefair over seven years ago, he has consistently continued to exceed the high standards that are required of him. Through his hard work, commitment and willingness to ‘go the extra mile’, Roger has gained the respect and gratitude of the centre’s customers and its management team. He even gives up his own time to train local businesses.
Kevin Smith, Manager of the Horsefair Shopping Centre, commented: “I’m delighted for Roger. These were awards for security personnel from all industries, not just for shopping centres, so it’s great to see that Roger and the Horsefair are leading the way. Roger does so much work to improve security at the centre; he’s made a significant contribution over the years to making Wisbech town centre a much safer place”.
Gary Clarke, managing director of City Security who employ Roger, said: “I’m incredibly pleased for Roger. His commitment really is outstanding and the difference that he has made to the local community is something special. It is no exaggeration to say that he has singlehandedly reduced the local area’s crime rate”.
The prestigious awards, now in their 16th year, provide an exclusive platform to showcase the high calibre of security personnel across the country, and have five categories: Service to the Customer; Outstanding Act; Best Newcomer; Best Use of Technology; and Best Team.
