Horsefair Helps High Street Thrive

As part of the Healthy High Streets campaign, 100 town centres were chosen to receive intensive support over a three year period through access to business expertise and resources to help high streets realise their potential. Wisbech was one of the selected areas.

Since the scheme came to Wisbech, areas to focus on have been identified and one of these areas was for retailers to work better together. As part of this Kevin Smith, Centre manager of the Horsefair Shopping Centre, has invited retailers from outside of the centre to be actively involved in its upcoming Halloween Trick or Treat event.

Despite running for seven years, this will be the first time that the Horsefair’s Halloween event has been opened up to reach beyond the shopping centre; something which is a direct result of the Healthy High Streets initiative.

Kevin commented: “I’m really pleased that the HHS campaign has enabled the Horsefair to help form new partnerships within the town centre; to actively encourage higher footfall; and put on successful and sustainable events for the people of Wisbech.”

Full details about the Halloween Trick or Treat event will be announced over the next few weeks. It is one of the first actions to come of Wisbech’s involvement in the national scheme, and many more steps are expected in the future to help boost shopping in the town.
