Have You Seen The Chickens At The Horsefair?
The Wisbech Art Space, which is run in association with the Horsefair Shopping Centre and Red Barn Creative, a local arts organisation, was established to show art to the public by giving local artists the opportunity to display their work.
The animal installation is part of the array of work by Yvette Cobley which is currently on display in the Wisbech Art Space window opposite Peacocks at the shopping centre. Yvette is the third artist to be selected, and, as well as painting, she specialises in creating sculptures with mosaic, wire and other materials.
Lorena Hodgson, of Red Barn Creative, who is curating the Art Space, commented: “Yvette’s work is detailed and imaginative. She is selling in a number of prestigious galleries, including Art in the Heart in Peterborough. We have got paintings that have not been shown before, as well as a sculpture that is similar to one sold on the Channel 4 show “Four Rooms”, all from one artist. A very talented lady!”
Manager at the Horsefair Shopping Centre, Kevin Smith, said: “Yvette’s work is certainly very eye-catching. I’ve already had many shoppers stopping me and praising her work. Personally, I love the chickens – they’re so lifelike!”
Artists’ work from all over the area will continue to be displayed in the Art Space, and will be available to view and buy on the website at www.wisbechartspace.com where more information can also be found.
