Chlamydia Screening Returns To The Horsefair Shopping Centre

Members of the Cambridgeshire Chlamydia Screening Programme will be at the Horsefair’s bus station area between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, 21st July, offering quick confidential tests to young shoppers.

Those interested in taking a test will be asked to provide a urine sample or self taken swab – which can be obtained using the Centre’s toilet facilities which will be near to the testing station – and their contact details; they will then receive a text with their results within two weeks.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Zoe Garner, Chlamydia screening outreach team leader, said: “We’re pleased to be returning to the Horsefair, we want test more young people in the Wisbech area, Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections amongst males and females aged between 16 and 25.

“In addition to the testing, there will be a wealth of information on sexual health and plenty of freebies up for grabs including cinema vouchers and an opportunity to win prizes via our raffle.”

Horsefair Manager, Kevin Smith, said: “I’m pleased that the team is heading the Centre once again to help raise awareness in the area and giving our shoppers helpful information.”
