Wisbech Set To Be Taken Over By Little Horrors!
Halloween is always a big event at the Horsefair Shopping Centre and this year is set to be bigger than ever with the fun going beyond the Horsefair to involve much of the whole town centre on Saturday 29th October.
From 3pm to 5pm the Horsefair centre will be home to a whole host of scary activities – all for free. These include balloon modelling, Spider Mountain, and a fairground ride. During this time, children under the age of 15, and dressed in a Halloween costume can take part in the Trick or Treating event, to visit over 60 of the town centre businesses to collect free treats! Businesses participating in the Horsefair, Hill Street, Union Street, High Street and around the Market Place will display a “Wisbech Witch” poster in their window, and participating children are reminded to bring a collection bag for all the treats that they gather!
Shoppers of all ages are encouraged to participate and to arrive in fancy dress as the ever-popular fancy dress competition is once again returning. This year, for the first time, there will also be a prize for the best dressed adults too! The Mayor of Wisbech will be choosing the winner at 4pm on the Market Place.
Kevin Smith, Centre Manager of the Horsefair, commented: “Halloween is one of the biggest days of the year for us. It’s great to see the fun taking over so much of the town centre and not just the Horsefair. The fancy dress competition is always very popular, and in the past I’ve had a lot of parents asking if they can get involved so this year we’ve added a category for adults too!”
From 1pm there will be more activities on the Market Place with ghoulish dancers and the chance to make your own haunted house or ghost lantern. There will also be a craft and gift fair running all day in the bus station area, with 18 local craft stalls already booked.
There will be prizes for the best children’s, and adult’s, fancy dress costumes at the Wisbech Town Centre Spooktacular Halloween Event.
