Local charities benefit from Horsefair car boots

Throughout May the Horsefair Shopping Centre held two car boot sales.

Each taking place on the bank holiday weekends, the two car boot sales were very well attended and raised funds for the Centre’s two chosen charities.

The first car boot sale took place on Monday 7th May and was raising funds for Wisbech Lions Club, a total of £334.19 was raised. Then at the end of the month, on 28th May, the second event raised £181.67 for FACET (Fenland Area Community Enterprise Trust).

Discussing the two events, Kevin Smith, Centre Manager at the Horsefair, commented: “I’d like to thank all the car booters and shoppers that attended our two events in support of these great charities. We raised over £500 – what an excellent result!”

Wisbech Lions Club is a local group dedicated to fundraising to help the schools, the elderly and much more within the local community and further afield, and FACET helps adults with learning and other disabilities to achieve their full potential in life, providing opportunities for them to train and gain qualifications to achieve employment or work towards living independently.

As part of the Horsefair’s ongoing support of FACET, the charity will be attending the centre’s Summer Fun Day in August to entertain shoppers with a musical performance.
